Holidays in Vernazza in the Cinque Terre park

Vernazza Vernazza is the only tourist port of the Cinque Terre and, despite being considered by the fourth level captain's office as unsafe against the frequent libeccio and the rough sea, the history of this village was born right around it.

Originally, in fact, the Romans made it a stopover for the wine trade, it was then a maritime power against Genoa , until it became a strategic outpost for the struggle of Genoa against Pisa.

Worth seeing in Vernazza

The origin of Vernazza is ancient. Around 1080, it was already famous because the Sciacchetrà , the well-known local wine, was exported from here, and the constant submission to Genoa made it an important center for the repair of boats, as well as determining the construction of the walls and the castle, dating back to 11th century, on top of a rock, 70 meters above the sea.

The Torre Doria , on the walls, offers the best landscape of Vernazza, from here you can see the town with its alleys and its stairways (arpaie), but also the Gothic Parish Church of Santa Margherita di Antiochia , built in 1318 which together with San Fruttuoso in Camogli , and San Pietro in Portovenere , represents one of the best examples of religious architecture mixed with natural elements.

The Cantu de musse , the corner of lies, in Piazza Marconi , is the central point of the square, and it is so called, because it is the perfect place to stop and gossip.
